Purchased a Nomos Orion in June and have worn it quite a bit without issue. On two occasions in high heat doing a lot of walking (10-15 miles around the city) I developed a fairly bad rash/dermatitis under the band.
Sweat/heat seems to be a factor, however I’m wondering if cordovan (horse) allergy is a thing? I don’t recall having this reaction to other leather bands in the past.
Think Cordovan doesn’t readily absorb moisture compared to other leathers. This make Cordovan great if you need something water resistant and leather, but it might cause your sweat to pool under the strap causing the heat rash. Kind of similar to rubber straps causing the same effect.
Ah ha, interesting. When doing some research I saw similar rashes from silicon apple watch bands and, knowing silicon is about as hypoallergenic as it gets, assumed it had to do with the heat.
I’ve ordered some perlon bands that I think I’ll swap out for the warmer months, and reserve the cordovan for the cooler half of the year and special occasions.
It’s not an allergy… you had sweat unable to evaporate due to be trapped under the band and friction from the leather rubbing on your wrist. This is completely common and why everyone suggests not to wear leather when wearing you watch and being active
