I suffer from horriffic PMDD, and over the past three months hace been trying to cut out products that contain known endocrine distruptors - phthalates, pfas, artificial fragrance etc etc, to try to regulate my out of control mood swings better, etc.

The swaps for hair & body products have been easy to make so far, and my last two cycles have, rather astonishingly, been far less mood-swing driven already. I’m honestly flabbergasted.

But I am struggling A LOT with makeup. It is not my area of expertise, and it is all SO expensive. Brands like Beauty Counter seem to cover all the bases when it comes to formulating without known endocrine distruptors, but I have a hard time stomaching paying $43 for a face powder when I am used to paying six bucks for one at Target.

I’m curious if anyone knows of any makeup brands that are a little more mid-range in price, that would meet my needs? I wear powder, blush, eyeshadow and mascara mostly.

Thankyou!!

Beautycounter is an MLM, for what it’s worth.

LYS is at the more affordable end of “clean beauty” (products are the high teens/low $20ish USD range), but they don’t have any eyeshadows in their line-up. MOB Beauty may be another option for you.

If you don’t already, search your products on the EWG Skin Deep database. It can help you figure out what to keep and get rid of. Also, when I need to find a new product, I just search it on the database (ex: “concealer) and then sort them from Best -Worst and it will show you EWG certified products and ones with good scores. I usually also search them on Ulta or Sephora and check the reviews before buying.
