Hi!

I’m looking to buy a watch for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift, as the title says. It will be his first watch and I know absolutely nothing about watches!

I would like for it to be quality and last him a long time. He prefers silver and likes those watches with silver/stainless steel straps? Not sure what’s it called, but not leather.

Watches I’ve considered are

  • SPB307J1 in black or white, this is probably the highest prices budget wise.
  • SSA447J1
  • SSA347J1, altho i dont think he’ll like blue?
  • SUR311P1
  • SSB337P1
  • RA-AK0307B10B
  • RA-AA0C01B19B

I think he would prefer watches that are at least 40mm, preferably around 42mm Pros and cons are appreciated!

What is his favorite color, does he like unusual designs (is he a hipster), is there a preference for formal vs. sporty?

Go to the Seiko and pick any you think will suit him. They are all fire and reasonably priced for a gorgeous piece. I have a Rolex Sub Date, Panari Marina 42 Black, grails for some. But I wear my Seikos the most.

Go for one of the Orient Mako 3 options. 42mm, has a day and a date complication, lumed numerals, good color choices, and 200m wr. It also has the same case as the kamasu so if he wants to upgrade the bracelet to something even sturdier he can for relatively cheap. Its a great watch and one of my favorites even over my seikos

If you are in the US get him a citizen eco-drive you think he’d like from the officialwatchdeals store on ebay.

There are some that come on a bracelet like this one. There’s also an extra 30% off coupon at the moment for it land some other models.

Eco-drive watches are solar powered so as long as they get some daily light they’ll just work for many years. Just don’t hide it in a drawer in the dark when not wearing it for long time, leave it on a shelf in a well lit room where it can get some daylight.

Not in the US but I’ve looked up citizen eco-drive and I do love the specs of it and they have quite a few nice designs! Thank you
