I’ve seen a lot of people my age wearing white (or black but mostly white) air forces. And I’m curious, why are they so popular? Is it because they’re cheap, comfy, or do celebrities promote/wear them? And whats the difference between white air force 1s and white air jordan 1? And if I were to get one of the two which should I go for?

For a teenager with not much money and still growing, AF1.
They are basic, cheaper, and as a bonus they make you look taller.
Af1. More comfortable and in abundance. At times you can catch the AF1’s cheaper on sale.

They go with anything and look really nice in good condition. Problem is they look like trash once they lose their shape, which doesn’t take long. For my money the AF1 high tops are the way to go. For lows I’d go with Jordan 1.
There’s AF premium models which use better leather and don’t lose their shape. I have a pair I bought 2020 that is going strong and they’re my daily beaters in autumn/winter.
That’s cool, but I see so many mangled pairs out there that it’s put me off them. Some shoes look ok beaten up a bit, not so much AF1.
White af1’s go with literally any outfit and are reasonably acquirable
The rep of black AF1s in the US was a shock to me - in New Zealand they are the school shoe of choice cos kids have to wear all black low top shoes (except for bogans who wear triple black TN). Every adult pretty much associates them with school days so no one wears them once they’re free.
