I’m sorry if this isn’t the right place to put this but I’m wondering what to do.

I wear Avia Men’s Quickstep Strap walking shoes with the velcro strap. I wear a size 9.5 shoe in wide. I just put on a new pair of these same shoes, since I only wear these shoes. They are a brand new pair. I removed the insoles because I wear inserts which help correct my stance. I’ve done this with other pairs of shoes and this hasn’t happened until the shoe is old and ready to be retired.

This doesn’t happen usually, most of the time I can wear my shoes perfectly comfortably with no discomfort or pain. And in certain positions everything is fine. It mainly happens when I’m up and walking around.

Now, my issue. My issue is this, my left big toe is becoming painful in the left side where the nail meets the skin. I checked my toe and it’s fine, no ingrown nail or anything like that. I can’t tell if my big toe is pressing against the top of the shoe or the front but either way there is pain being caused by pressure somehow being placed on the toe. I’m wondering if I should go up a half size to a 10 but I had someone look at my shoes when I was wearing them and they said I had plenty of room.

Is this just new shoes not relaxing? I’ve been wearing them for 2 days now and it has me worried a little bit. I apologize if this isn’t the right place to post this.

Have your tried them with the original insole? Your insert might be thicker than the last has room for.
