There’s nothing wrong with these shoes - nor the fact that they’re readily available for retail. The latter point is what some like to jump on, because it represents everything antithetical to the modern sneaker and reselling landscape. People like to bitch about raffles and backdooring, etc. but the fact is those people WANT shoes to be limited and exclusive… for everyone else, not them.

Quality is on par with many $110 sneakers, no matter how people will try to spin the quality on other Dunks (especially ones they overpaid for).

The people that hate them are ones that spent over $300 on them during the hype or the ones that bought them only for resell.

They’re fine. People just like to jump on the bandwagon. Quality is shit. But that’s most dunks for ya.

I think people forget that dunks are a $100 shoe. They aren’t going to be premium materials. I love dunks, have for a long time, and you can’t go wrong with a black and white shoe.

there’s plenty of shoe companies that make sneakers with real leather and/or suede for $100 or less

Listen I love Nike but y’all best be trippin hella if you really think it’s worth 100$. The actual manufacturers will tell you the exact same thing in China. It’s probably 10$ per unit. And that’s a generous guesstimate. People don’t realize just how cheap as fuck Chinese shit is and how much it skyrockets from brands in the west.

I guess I just don’t understand why “everyone has them” is a reason to not like them, but everyone also has, for example, classic vans and Chuck Taylor’s, but nobody has a problem with those. It just seems kind of gatekeepy to me.

I guess coz they’re over popular as in its something you’d wear just to fit in with others that have them, basically following what’s trending not because you’re a fan of them yourself but because everyone else has them.

Think the “hate” is mostly that they were so popular and widespread so sneaker heads have to hate them. These and AF1s are probably still the most common shoe I see today.

Sneakers are cool, people who hate on shoes for being poser shoes need to get their head out of their asshole. It’s just a shoe. Ground yourself and remember you’re just glorifying overpaid shoes made by children in third world countries because the colors or materials are different.

It’s like the lamer version of Meryl Streep in the devil wears Prada dissing others for wearing clothes that are last season.

Like even the word colorway is just a cool term to dress up the word color. Like this is all just a demonstration in the power of marketing.
