I have many palates of eyeshadow, they are all pretty inexpensive. The problem I have is the burgundy colors, which I love, all turn more of an orange color on me so I don’t wear them. Do I have to invest in more pricy eyeshadow?

You can spend all the money in the world, but if the core pigments in the eyeshadow aren’t compatible with your skin tone for the look you want the result will always be the same.

I’d try looking for a cooler toned burgundy that leans more to the pink/purple side rather than what sounds like the more orange/yellow based shadows you’ve been going for. The Colourpop Smoke and Roses palette is one that comes to mind, it’s fairly inexpensive and definitely leans more cooler toned.

I would totally recommend an eyeshadow primer here, one with a bit of pigment so it gives you a nice neutral base. I use a milani one that has a slight pigment to it, but I love shadow insurance by too faced!
