Obviously $5M is a lot of money, but for a lot of middle class people like myself this is attainable in a lifetime after saving for a while. Curious what each person’s choice would be for a “grail watch” that isn’t ridiculously expensive.

You could go with what everyone else does, tudor, omega, seizing, etc. blah blah blah. How about something unique like a Baume & Mercier, Chopard, Bremont or Carl F Bucherer? Hell, even a Ulysses Nardin could be had for under $5k and then you’re not wearing what 90% of the watch fanboys are wearing.
Bad examples. Ulysses Nardin are some of the most hideous “high horology” watches I’ve ever seen. B&M are meh and any somewhat desirable Chopard or Bucherer is more than $5k. Bremont charges ridiculous prices for basic ass ETA movements so don’t get me started on them… Popular watches are popular for a reason.
