    Hot take, but i like these better than the Submariner. They’re just fancier, and no one’s REALLY diving in their Rolex.

      I’ve dived with my submariner, never take it off except for soccer games.

      Agreed, this and Explorer II are actually cool looking. If you took the logo off how many people would actually say a submariner really caught their eye vs it’s popularity

      Also agree, despite how iconic it is, I find the submariner bezel to be quite childish looking, something you’d find on toy. The yacht master bezel is much more subtle and classy

      The white gold woth the blacked out bezel and dial is just 👌

      That said, polar explorer 2 is the best current rolex imo. Just seems the best resolved overall (largely due to not being polished to high hell tbh)

        I love the Polar Explorer II, but like the other commenter said too, it’s too big at 42mm. I hate that they went from 39/40 to 36/42 for the Explorer models. 40 (47-48 L2L) is like my max for size. The YM wears slimmer (and better) than my GMTII despite being the same size.

      The Yacht Master was supposed to replace the Submariner from what I have read. In the end Rolex chickened out of it.

      This is true, but also a good way to invite a bunch of people to reply/dm you a bunch of pics of themselves underwater, proudly displaying their $10k trinket to technical obsolescence.

      That’s what Rolex thought too.

      It was going to be the new submariner in the 90s, basically admitting their watches were now just jewellery, then they realised all the hypebeasts wanted the old cliched but instantly recognisable sub on their wrists.

      So they called it the yachtmaster, even though without a chrono complication it has nothing to do with yachting (other than conspicuous consumption).
