For some reason, my lips have been terribly chapped since September. I put on chapstick in the mornings and they look fine, and only a few hours later they’re very noticeably chapped. Same thing happens even if I reapply later.

Tips to make this go away/help cover it up?

I put a bit of hydrocortisone on my lips at night and then cover it with a solid layer of aquaphor. If there is any redness, I’ll add a bit of bacitracin to the hydrocortisone.

Also, drink more water. Tons of water. The better hydrated I am, the less chapped my lips are.

Overly chapped lips can be a sign of precancerous cells. Especially if it’s only your lower lip. Lip cancer can kill you in six months. If it doesn’t go away it is worth seeing a dermatologist.

You only need one thing, get La Roche Posay’s Cicaplast Levres balm. I have had to deal with dry lips due to blood sugar issues and NOTHING, nothing but these has been able to save my lips and see improvements overnight.

Best 16$ bucks I’ve ever spent.

OP, chapstick is basically wax. It is occlusive, not hydrating ( except for the formula in the blue tube)

You need something hydrating/moisturizing and then lock it in with something occlusive. If your lips have visible dead skin on the surface, start by exfoliating. Even rubbing them with a rough-ish washcloth could be enough. Gently - you want the fllakes off, don’t cause pain or bleeding.
