I’ve been only using the GMK Moomin set after only using a clone and a set from osume. I noticed a gash on my w key and I was so confused as to how this key was getting damaged, only to realize that it’s happening because of my nails 😭

It might not be a common struggle for you guys, but I get long and medium nail sets AND I game, so this poor little w is taking a BEATING. Also my s is so shiny bc I rest my fingers there 😭

Man I heard all the complaints about the ABS plastic, but monkey brain went “ohh pretty colors” 😭much regret

I normally have short nails (work in a bakery so no false nails or nail polish allowed) but for a wedding a few weeks back I put a pair of short press on nails on…holy shit how do people type with these things!? I was pecking away at my keyboard like a demented chicken for two days :/

At first i was confused as to how the fuck do you use your nails, than I realised you were chick.

Would have never occurred to me that it could be a problem.

BTW, i don’t know if it’s a solvent or not, but try clear nail paint on the keyboard. I’m just spitballing here, but it could work as a protective coat on the keycaps.

They sell transparent adhesive Keycap “stickers” on Amazon. No need to paint your keycaps haha

I feel you, I’ve got medium coffins rn and I keep knicking keys. I’m an MO gamer primarily so I’m rapid fire pressing buttons, I’ve just learned to kind of tilt? My fingers so I’m pressing more with the pads rather than the tips

IIRC Kate keycaps were designed in part to be more useable with long nails. I’m not sure if Rama has shipped any yet though (now called Caps since the breakup I think). MTNU might also be worth a try.

I cut my pointer and middle fingernails short on my left hand for this reason. 😭 My nails also tend to feel it after a marathon. The rest of em are pretty long almond/claw nails.

Unfortunately yeah nails do damage caps you can try to flatten your fingers when typing but I understand that is annoying as all hell but if you build that habit you can still type with nails

I feel your pain! Tall profile keycaps are my favorite, and it’s difficult to press with my finger pads without my nails hitting first. Unfortunately I have nicked my fair share of keycap sets and have decided to dedicate one keyboard with a cheaper keycap set on it for heavier use like gaming.

    The struggle is real!
