I’m planning to build one of my pricier keyboards with an aluminum Tofu 65 2.0 with a brass weight. What should I get for the plate? The options are polycarbonate, carbon fiber, aluminum, and FR4. No ideas for the switches yet but I’m planning to get the Cerakeys ceramic keycaps.

Which plate should I get if I’m planning to go for a creamy, glassy sound?

I’ve built two Tofu65 2.0’s so far, trying out most of the variations. My favorite was an aluminum case, aluminum plate (PC and CF plates were too soft/plasticky sounding), gasket socks mount. The gasket bowls were too fussy to install and too springy/bouncy for me. One thin layer of case foam, one layer of plate foam.

I finished that build off with Anubis switches and MTNU white on black caps. Beautiful, soft, rounded PBT double shot caps. It’s my favorite board so far (of five builds).

    Hope that helps!
