In my new job I’m expected to record video tutorials obviously using an HD camera. There is professional lighting and all of that, but I’m note sure how to do my make up so that it will look good. I’m kinda self-conscious about the way I look on camera and I don’t want to feel horrible about myself after filming and refusing to publish the recordings. What can I do to make sure at least makeup-wise I’m good?

If you’re using warm (colour temperature, not physically) studio lighting, aka yellow light, use just a little bit more contour and blush than you’re used to. Digital cameras, while great at capturing detail, have a habit of washing out and flattening skin tones.

If you’re not yet comfortable wearing more blush / bronzer / contour, spend some time practicing blending it out and adding more. Do one look where you add WAY too much, and try to blend it out as best you can, then remember what that looks like and adjust as you practice.

Before you start shooting, do your makeup normally, then do some test shots with the lighting they will use. Review the footage and adjust based on the images you see, not necessarily how it looks in the mirror.
