So earlier i oppened the Beauty blender/face sponge ( im confused about those 2 ) that my mom bought for me from delivery. i decided to put hot water in a cup, then dipped the sponge in it… (The sponge came with a container because i wanted it to have one) ofcourse i squeezed it then let off all of the water inside, The thing is, i put it back into its cointainer when it was still moist. (Which is mostly the part where im wrong)

Later my mom came then asked me why it’s still moist, i told here the things i did then she blabbed/scolded me about how you’re not supposed to wash “freshly delivered” Sponges and how it will give me a face infection now that I’ve washed it.

Was there something i did wrong? Is my mom right? If she is, please do enlighten me about sponges. (P.s excuse my bad grammar I’m asian)

I don’t get the logic behind not washing “freshly delivered” sponges. I mean, what difference would waiting a day or a week until you wash it do?

The only misstep was putting it back into the container while it was still damp. Some beauty blender holders do have holes to let them dry, but it’s probably still better to leave it out.

If possible, try to keep your sponge in a dry space (not the bathroom) to minimize the chance of it growing mold.

Omg Sponges grow mold? But what if mine has a container? (Like how you put an airpod in it’s case but make the inside of the case wider)

They can grow mold but they shouldn’t if you care for it properly.

That is why the sponges need to be dry before putting it into a container. If the container is airtight, you are just trapping the moisture in with your sponge if it’s damp. Mold needs moisture to grow so the best way of preventing this is to let it dry completely after you wash it before putting it away.

Just leave it out to dry. You can buy cute little beauty blender holders for that purpose. Or get a case with air holes. You can buy beauty blender cases on Amazon and Sephora that let enough air flow for them not to grow mold
