Hello everyone, reaching out to the community for advice.
I have an opportunity to purchase the Yacht Master 42 in white gold Oysterflex. This would be my first purchase with Rolex. I have always had a preference for Cartier or Breitling, however this was recommended and wow, it’s beautiful!
However my budget is £15k, so this would put me back financially being just over £25k, it would also delay some other projects for 4 to 6 months. With that being said, it’s nothing I can’t work out, just eat beans and toast for a while haha.
I’m not even sure about insurance on this.
I would like to know what you guys think of this watch, is it a good find, a good investment etc. Would you take this opportunity and purchase?
Any advice or opinions are greatly appreciated.
Considering that you both didn’t really want it initially and that it’s way over your budget, I’ll answer your question with another question. Why WOULD you buy it?
Nope, like others have said save up. Never go above your budget.
You have plenty of choices with this budget, that is not one of them.
Yes, I’ve been looking at the many variations of the Submariner, some nice options. I wish the Oysterflex was available on other models.
Absolutely do not buy a watch over your budget. At £15k, you can get that watch 2nd hand amongst many others
Where on earth can you buy this watch for 15 thousand pounds? Asking for myself
A watch is a “want”, not a “need”, so I would never advise buying a watch you can’t easily afford. Save up since there will always be another watch.
That’s how my dad taught me also, as long as it is easily affordable I should consider it.
Prices have been coming down.
I don’t think this will change any time soon. Safe and see what happens. I love this watch but it’s not worth the asking. You might see a time where watches will sell BELOW the MSRP again.
What website is this? Want to check out other watches
Also check out Watch Charts site.
Chrono24. You need to register to get the historical price data.
Oh this is interesting, thanks for the info, and thank you to everyone else for commenting.
I’m going to leave it for now and continue to save for a while.
Of course, buy a luxury piece of jewellery thats way above your budget based on the opinions of strangers on reddit, thats a great idea!
Save up.
buy buy buy!
Lmao if you have to alter your diet to buy a ridiculous watch then maybe you shouldn’t do it. I’m not buying a watch if it’s costing me more than 10% of my cash reserves.
“OPpURTuniTy!”
No, you can’t afford it.
You don’t need this watch.
I love watches. I can afford a Rolex, but still cannot come to terms with spending that much as I think watches should around 5k. I couldn’t fathom putting projects and overextending myself for a watch.
A mind set of eating beans for a few months in return for a more expensive watch than you can afford, is the mind of a true watch fan
