I have naturally very thin and sparse eyebrows. Basically, I only have a few odd hairs from the middle to the outer edges. My brows are dark blonde in colour. This is not the result of overplucking; they’ve always been like this.

The problem is, that I’m terrible at applying eyebrow products. I’ve used all kinds of pencils, gels, markers and pomades, but the result is always unnatural.

My latest purchases were Charlotte Tilbury’s Brow Lift pencil and Legendary Brows gel. Legendary Brows looks OKish on the inner edges, but I don’t have enough hairs on the outer edges for it to work. I’ve tried to ‘extend’ my brows to the outer edges with Brow Lift, but the result is unnatural and looks like a crayon drawing, even when trying to apply the product gently or applying tiny strokes that mimic hairs.

I would love some tips on how to make it better. Or is my only hope getting semi-permanent makeup? I prefer a natural look, and don’t want them too ‘done’. But at the same time, I feel that my brows are too thin in their natural state, and I would benefit from a bit more colour and shape. Thanks!

    Hi! This would take a bit of artistry, but I use the Glossier brow pen and if you draw little vertical lines towards the front of your eyebrows and more diagonal as you get to the outer half (basically following the direction of your natural hairs) it looks like natural individual hairs. I have thicker eyebrows with holes throughout and I find that this just makes it look like I have brow in those areas as well without them looking filled in!

      I do this too with the Nyx brow tint pen - View it more as a painting than makeup because as you said, it takes some artistry! With enough practice though this looks really good and natural.

      @ OP I have weak eyebrows too and it’s in my post history if you wanna have a look, after all my trial and error this is what I do: Take a medium coloured brow powder and that kind of darkens everything up/fills the holes then I top that with the brow pen, which gives a really natural look if you apply them like individual hairs
