I bought the RMS Beauty “re” evolve natural finish foundation on sale at Credo a few weeks back. I read reviews and tried it before splurging. (I normally only wear drugstore foundation). The finish is lovely and the color match is good, BUT it PILLS!
I read that you can’t use any products with silicone together with water-based no-silicone products. So today I spent a few minutes looking up ingredients and realized all my sunscreen, most of my moisturizers, and all my other foundation contains some form of silicone or dimethicone.
Any product suggestions or advice to reduce or eliminate pilling? I really don’t want to get rid of the foundation but it’s annoying not to be able to use it over any of my sunscreens.
Well, it is a silicone based polymer used to protect and seal skin. It’s what makes your skin feel silky after you apply moisturiser, for example, and it’s used in almost all skin care and primers - dimethicone on ingredients list does not mean that the product is silicone based. You should always look at the ingredients on the top of the list and see what the product is based on. 🙂
Thank you! I think I’ll just try to look for foundations that aren’t “silicone free”. I’m not sure why this one pills so bad but it does seem to be reacting to something.
It might be that you apply too much sunscreen? Every time I had a problem with foundation, it was because I went crazy with something underneath 🙃
Maybe, but you’re supposed to use 1/4 tsp of sunscreen, which sounds tiny but in practice is a huge dollop.
