Sucks to see, as I love Rama’s design language. But, I’d also bet that most of Rama’s designs came from Kate—who started her own brand, HIBI. So, I’ll gladly support her. Her watch inspired artisans are so pretty that I ordered three.
I’m with you, OP. Two years for a plastic board is downright crazy. Never buying from RAMA ever again.
Im so lost what happened?
After staying out of the hobby for 2 years what happened to Rama and Keycult? I remembered them making great boards.
They were the cream of the crop. RAMA I guess is washed up since his partner left and Keycult is doing things still, just not as public as they used to be.
Still I have heard many terrible things about keycult with their shipping time and build quality especially their 2/65
Damn i want that mat so much
I charged back my KARA2 and Caps just last week. I’m doneeee with RAMA.
Without Kate to stop him his awful taste really shows through doesn’t it. She carried him so hard.
She didn’t just carry him. Kate WAS RAMA from what we see him releasing these days
Zero taste, zero direction, zero innovation, zero interesting products. He’s trying to be Supreme so bad without any of the clout of a brand like that
Meanwhile Kate is thriving without him
What is she working on? I haven’t followed
i believe shes doing her own thing at hibi.mx
i’ve been out of the hobby for a while, is there somewhere i can read up on the lore?
https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/s/Q702fa8raz This along with one of the comments explained the drama quite extensively
I have a friend been waiting for his M60 for two years
Does this sub keep a list of known scammers? I got burned by Rama as well.
I have 2 preorders from them and they stopped responding to questions about timing. Don’t give this shitty company your money.
Maybe they just don’t respond to customers with a shitty attitude?
Sir I don’t think taking someone’s money and not responding to customer inquiries is a good thing.
The irony is not lost on us.
😂
Not sure if it’s a troll, a big fat FU to us all who gave Rama money or just dillisional wolf of wallstreet bro wannabism
https://ramaworks.store/products/mats-cash-editionI did get a replace from customer support (after almost 2 months) which mostly said KARA is in wherehouse being prep’d (yeah right will see) and a long as rambling about how making the CAPS sets is hard and M60/65/U80 and in prod queue (no ETA ofc)
At least in the meantime I can get me a Omnitype Bauer lite IN STOCK and play with that in a few days (even with all the suck in this hobby now days, I do still find gems that make my day - SA Copper Artisan finally showed and I’m super happy with Salvun’s work as always)
lol wherehouse. yes
Good to hear Copper is coming along, I’m stuck with EU wait times but if stock is moving that means I should get it in a few months too hopefully
Been waiting 2 years for CAPS. Credit card company can’t even do a chargeback that far at this point. So over this company.
That’s the point. Waiting out that chargeback period.
Shit like this is why I don’t do keyboards anymore
Shit like this is why I bought a 3D printer for about the cost of some GMK sets, and started printing actually custom keyboards where the most expensive part is the $20 AliExpress keycaps.
How good are those 3d printed cases?
They can be pretty amazing really just depends on how meticulous the maker is
Spent way too much restoring old chonkers, getting them reanodized, refinished, rebuilt, repairing and sometimes frankensteining PCBs…
and the build I use the most is a flat 3D printed base with a recycled plate and dirt cheap keycaps.
At this point, those “endgame” builds are just chasing the dragon when it comes to the amount of copium involved. In the end, is it something you want to use or just claim you have (clout) or look at and take pictures of? (form over function)
You’d need a pretty large printer for a normal 60 percent, no? Most entry level to mid range 3d printers only have the bed size for something like split cases
Printing it all in one go would take a large bed, but I just designed it to print in halves that I attached together after printing.
Ic
Do show!!
Shit like that is why I want to buy a 3d printer, ended up buying a lot of shit that helps me touch grass and lose weight.
I don’t know what the fuck happened some time ago. But it seemed I used decades worth of luck to actually receive a RAMA keyboard on time (Soya U80-A SEQ2, waiting for about a year).
Sht like this is something I would put with one of those super cheap cardboard keyboards to flex all the money I didn’t spend on either a case, 3D printer or parts 😂
Spending no / minimal money on 3d-printed keyboard or self-designed PCB is one of the sure way to be seen as a keyboard enthusiast.
I’m just a person with more money than sense to splurge on these fancy metal boards.
I do the same thing to, I am in the ergo scene more recently and my most recent pcb was gorgeous feature ridden but extremely expensive. I have made a few cheap boards a wireless dactyl for about 50 bucks with all my 3D printed parts, but I agree that keyboards get expensive and it can be really fun and challenging sometimes to see how cheap you can go. Me and my buddy actually just built a super easy cheap PCB for beginners to learn on, and even then we kept trying to keep ourselves from over pricing a cool cheap Keeb. We made a version that for about 60 you can fully build out if you were provided the tools (soldering iron, solder, flux) it was really fun pushing us through
I honestly thought that was a fake bill to snort cocaine with till I clicked on the link.
Yeah, I thought I was in r/drugs when I first saw the picture
The latest email newsletter says Kara seq2 has arrived in port and will be in the warehouse ‘soon’. They seem to be on life-support at best… buy more ‘in-stock’ XO Jumpers (?!?) and NFC cards (?!?) if you want your KATE keycaps?
soon so about another year then haha
Ya hella obvious ponzi
