Some of you may have already seen this video titled “Why typing sucks now” by James Dingley? I found it interesting–the kind of nerdy fun this sub might be into? He even mentions this sub…

He covers the history of QWERTY reasonably well. His whole approach is based in the (obvious) need for an layout suitable for an individual’s typing (hands, hardware, corpora…) Nice.

While there may be something wanting in some of the designs he produces (he smartly produces many), he does address the problems methodically, with a proper focus on corpus…plus, he has a tongue-in-cheeky way about it all, with a production style like Tom Scott’s early days that has its own charm. He even gives up his simulated annealing code, here.

Hope you enjoy.
