How strict should we be regarding the expiration dates of make-up?

Despite having what I consider to be a capsule makeup collection, I see that it’s damn near impossible to use something up because I only wear SPF and do my brows on a daily basis. However, I do need to have some eyeshadows, a couple of cheek products and some lipsticks on hand for when I need them.

I don’t want to put expired makeup on my skin but I have owned some of the things for a while. Should I strictly follow the months indicated on the packaging? Is it ok? Thoughts? What is your personal practice regarding this?

Im a lil bit particular when it comes to liquids and creams.

I pay attention to mascaras or anything cream or liquid that i use in and around my eyes.I go over my liquid or cream foundations or any cosmetic creams and have a sight, feel and sniff test…If im unsure and i know its got age to it,i do a small patch on the neck area for any adverse reactions…

General rule is that if they look like theyve separated, have molds, changed colour or has that crayon…playdough-y smell then, its time to toss or replace…if none of this, theyre fair game…

Everything else in powder forms,i dont give a diddly squat,im keeping them forever…and ok what if they feel dry when applied? I use a mixing medium and get really creative and be inspired to use any as eyeliners too!

I try to stay away from “clean beauty”…Things are getting very expensive and i want my stuff to last longer…different strokes for different folks! You do you.
