Right, I can only describe it as a kitchen sponge insole that sinks onto a concrete midsole haha. I’m not flat-footed, but I would describe it as great for lifting, even alright for standing, but not so comfortable for long treks

I mean, but to be fair, the Air trainer 1 was made for John McEnroe, so it was built for an athletic foot. Plus, with a sport like tennis, that tightness in the toebox is necessary! My second favorite shoe is my Air Trainer SC 2 “Megatron” but I can only wear them if I’m not walking much but damn do I love them!

That’s not quite accurate - Tinker designed the Air Trainers as a cross trainer for himself to wear to the gym. McEnroe got it in a bin of samples and wouldn’t take them off - they literally weren’t given a chance to design the shoe for him. In hindsight I cannot believe dude played tennis in these hahaha shoe technology was truly atrocious in the 80s.

I see you’re a fan of Trainers though, big respect! Wasn’t familiar with the Megatron but that’s a unique CW

You’re so right, duh, it always goes back to Tinker! What I can believe is that Pippen played in them cinder blocks! The “Chimera” Air Piipen is a huge grail of mine, but I had the camo ones, and damn are they heavy! Dawg trainers are my absolute favorite Nike. Early 90s late 80s Nike was insane! Air Carnivore! Just listen to that name!

Word, I’m definitely into 80s styles, but I suppose everyone is right now! I got into sneakers in the 2000s, so I guess I see simple 80s color blocking as a rejection of that tech-y look that was everywhere (basically, I’m anti-Shox). That busy 90s Pippen look is not for me I’m afraid, even if they were half the bulk haha.

Megatron Trainers, Camo and Chimera Pippens… my brother I’m guessing you’ve been collecting for a looong time to be developing such a strong style haha, love it

It’s not even that I’ve been collecting for a while. I just always loved shoes and growing up, I always got the 3 pairs. Church shoes, clean whites, and play shoes. First pair I got that made me be like ok yeah I like shoes, some red and white Allen Iverson’s I feel like they were the Answers. Really thlugh I’d guve uo all my collection for just some Diadoras, NB, Saucony, Mizuno, Kahru, and Kangaroos! I love good walking shoes I’m kinda over Jordans except those Olive green 4s that just dropped those I love! Jerry Seinfeld but me onto trainers as well!

Word! My start was spending hours at Nike outlets a couple times a year to find hidden gems - my parents had the right idea, best strategy for growing kids. I’d get 1 pair of running shoes for $50 and one pair of SBs for $30 and then wear them to shreds haha. Love the generic SB models. I dig the Seinfeld jeans and trainers look but for me it was Back to the Future that put me on retros.

I’m over Jordans as well but it’s not really my choice - just finally realized I’m a slim person and look absolutely ridiculous with huge shoes on haha. I still have to get rid of some 2s - really enjoyed the collab concepts from last year so got 3 pairs of 2s alone 💀 (I’ll keep the A Ma Maniere, those are such a unique style)

I’m jealous! I spent so many times aimlessly walking around hotels and universities being at my moms many meetings I wish I could have stayed in a nike outlet! Now we did go to several thrift stores and that’s when I found a love for Goodwill! I went to Goodwill for my birthday recently that’s how much I love them! I actually like Jordan 5s and Nike Yezzys because of that big shoe look. Idk maybe I just like Kanye but the slim leg big shoe look is my favorite! I just personally feel that Jordan brand isn’t creative enough the most creativity I’ve seen so far is J.Balvin! Crazy a musical artist can be the best thing to happen to Jordan brand and not an actual designer but eh look at Travis Scott! The AMM 2s are actually my least favorite of all the AMMs haha I dunno it takes alot for me to like 2s. The 4s I like but I’ve heard they are super stiff. ⁿ
