I’m starting to build a small collection & am interested in views as to when the appropriate time & place would be to wear the following potential parts of a collection:

- Dress watch such as a vintage Omega

- Modern Longines quartz Grande Classique (I know this may not be an obvious addition - but I already have this one)

- Rolex Explorer I

- Chronograph watch such as a Junghans Max Bill or Omega Speedmaster

- Dive watch such as Tudor FXD, Submariner or Omega Seamaster

Is there anything that would be missing from this set

In a wold of people wearing Apple watches in every occasion only the extreme minority will notice what kind of watch you wear and for rarity of it nowadays appreciate that you’re a watch person instead of apple notifications addict :)

So I’d relax and wear what watch I feel like in that moment.

    1. A dress watch can be worn any time. It can always be dressed down.

    2. The Longines can be worn any time.

    3. I’d wear the Rolex with anything less than formal.

    4. You mean chronograph, not chronometer. I’d wear these with anything less than formal.

    5. The FXD is super casual. The others you could probably swing for business casual.

    6. Anything missing is up to you and your own collecting goals.

White Tie/Black Tie: technically not supposed to wear a watch, period, but a dress watch like a JLC or Tank is OK (unless you have a Seamaster 300M…with a garrote in the crown…)

Business Formal: Dress Watch, really anything on leather

Business Casual: Bracelets are good to go, so divers, explorer, chronographs, plus anything above

Smart Casual: Sport Watches are actually preferred

    Relaxed Casual: whatever you want
