Hello everyone,

I purchased this Seiko SNK809 watch and have been wearing it daily for the past 16 months. However, recently, I’ve noticed that it consistently gains 5 minutes each week, causing me to reset it by moving it back to the correct time.

Is the watch’s movement failing? Could servicing resolve this issue?

It has become a bit bothersome to keep readjusting it, and I would appreciate any advice you can provide. Thank you for your help, and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

That’s actually not far off of the possible specs that Seiko lists. You could take it to a watch repair service to have it checked out and regulated.

The movement has a specified accuracy between -20/+45 seconds per day, so that’s not terribly far off. That said, a watchmaker could do a bit of adjustment or replace the whole movement if anything more is needed.
