As I see you’d like to stay below 5k I believe you can’t do better than a Black Bay. The BB58/54 would be a killer daily. Also the new BB Heritage in 41 looks awesome on the jubilee bracelet, I am waiting to see if they follow up the burgundy bezel with other color variants (not a big fan of red).

Yeah. They are basically fashion watches with somewhat poor QC and a bad reputation for long term performance. Also obscenely overpriced, like a decimal position overpriced. Stay away.

Looks like a solid choice. Citizen is a great brand and they are famous for their solar movements. Love the color too. Only doubt would be the dimension: from the photo it looks pretty big, if it’s too big it might be less versatile than you’d want from an only watch collection.

Absolutely stop putting it on a winder and go see a watchmaker, something is wrong with either the main spring or the escapement, possibly both. Magnetization has nothing to do with it, you’d notice the watch running several minutes faster per day.

It’s definitely in “business casual” territory, if you wear a tie as well I would avoid.

First and foremost: Jesus H. Christ what a bitch.

Secondly: Frankly, I would keep honoring the agreement and use the watches as the agreement still stood. Just use it without causing damage. If you tell the queen bitch (aka the wife), she’d sell everything like he 100% didn’t want to happen, so it would be disrespectful of his wishes.

Great selection, kudos. What’s the GS ref number? It looks like an Omiwatari to me but with a date wheel and the excellence star.

Cost of ownership looks minimal, I wouldn’t fret over it.

If you really need to trim down, I would eliminate #3 (ugly, in my opinion) and #4 (Pagani homage 🤢), the lady’s white Seiko next to the flightmaster and one between the 2 5KXs as they are too similar.

If you want to go nuts and go to a 3+1 collection, keep the quartz Citizen (#1), one of the 5KXs, the Flightmaster and one of the G-Shocks (they are both great choices)

Without a price range frankly it’s a little difficult, I have seen people calling a 5k watch a “beater” and people considering spending more than 1k a bonkers move.

In any case…

Divers are king of versatility, Water resistance and construction quality let you use them everywhere, but they are still classy enough to be worn with suit and tie, so I would go for one of those.

Orient is the budget option, the new Kamasu simply kicks ass. The design is not for everyone, though.

Oris is the best bang for your buck in the low end spectrum, a Aquis would be my choice but the Sixtyfive is a great skin diver.

Sinn also have great offering and it’s the embodiement of engineering applied to watches, a 104 with a grey sunburst dial would be perfect for an everyday watch.

If you are willing to spend a little more, can’t go wrong with a Tudor in my opinion. Given the versatility restriction I would go for a 58, difficult to do better with 4k bucks.

I would stay clear from Seiko, especially on the higher end. QC issues are common and some of the calibers are atrocious.

It’s a combination of obscurity among non-enthusiasts and higher prices. At those price levels, the normal audience would go for a more known brand like Omega.

Don’t get me wrong, Zenith prices are usually more than justified by the quality, but if they were to enter a lower price bracket (Oris/Longines/Mido, to make examples) they would definitely get more attention, in my opinion.

The MR-G line from G-Shock fulfills that specific need, on average 5k $. Some models are bonkers, but others are impossibly good, like the MR-G version of the DW5000. The MTG line is the entry level version (at around 1k $), still pretty solid.

That said, the Skywalker X33 from Omega is probably the best in class for this niche, it’s basically a 44mm speedmaster with a boatload of digital functions, money well spent. I am tempted myself.

Oris and Tudor are not on the same price level, with the former being on average around 40% cheaper. If you are considering Longines, Oris is 100% within your budget. Both solid choices for entry level luxury watches, but Tudor would be a step up from those, in my opinion.

I have been also considering Mido myself, design wise they have some solid offering but can’t comment on the quality, not enough in person time.
