gazzew addressed this, this specific version of the boba has been discontinued due to discoloration issues related to eva foam i believe, so now the u4ts that are milky are technically a different mold than the original u4t. although the black u4t is still the same.

New switches are being made using a plastic that is not subject to yellowing when exposed to concentrated outgassing from EVA foam (Formamide)

generally it’s gazzew recommended to not lube it but i think literally nobody follows it. every single u4t build has them lubed. i have them lubed. i don’t think it matters much. you don’t even have to gazzew method it, just make sure you hold down the stem when closing the switch so you don’t risk the tactility.

there is not a mainstream or widespread way to do it, but i think i remember seeing a device either on reddit or geekhack of a 3d printed thing that would connect to the keyboard’s type c port and make it bluetooth compatible.
