Authenticity and warranty. You can always get an AD to check for authenticity, but the warranty is the risk you’re taking going grey. As long as you’re willing to take the risk and pay for any repair costs if there’s a problem with the watch then you might as well go grey and save a little cash.

1·1 year agoI have a very similar watch, the Centric Instruments Lightwell MkIII. It’s a basic field watch, 39mm, sapphire with AR, screw down crown, 100m water resistance, and a Seiko solar movement. The only real difference is it doesn’t have a date complication (which is my preference).
You have a lot of similar watches and some that just aren’t my style. I would narrow it down to this:
It’s not my cup of tea, but a lot of people like the Tissot PRX. They make a gold version under $1000.
Best dark green dial under $1k is probably the Seiko Alpinist SPB121
Whatever you do, just keep the Omega De Ville. That’s a gorgeous watch.

I agree with you, the vintage look it was drew me in but I’m keeping mine on steel. Most of my collection is field watches with NATO or leather straps so I need a little variety. I may get tempted to throw it on the Hudson from Threaded Leather just to see how it looks. I have the Supreme NATO from Crown & Buckle and it’s a great strap; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the chevron.
Nice! My wife just gave me the same watch for our anniversary. It’s such a great looking watch. From a purely aesthetic standpoint it’s my favorite.
I really dislike the cyclops so I would keep the Explorer.
