Mid-30s, caucasian woman here. I wear subtle eye shadow, concealer around my eyes, foundation on my face, black mascara, and lip gloss.
Sure it’s simple, but when I’m in my bathroom mirror, by face looks very applied with makeup.
A few feet away in a full-body, mirror, though, it looks like I haven’t spent a minute applying it.
What gives?

Sometimes it’s because you’re not wearing makeup with the right undertones for your colouring. I can wear any amount of warm brown eyeshadows and lipstick and they just look muddy and never make me look made up. But if I wear black, charcoal, grey and silver and generally cool toned eyeshadow, and raspberry toned lipstick, even if I just apply them lightly, they make me pop and look so made up and healthy and younger. Try 2 inexpensive small eyeshadow palettes in cool and warm tones and see what looks good. A great inexpensive way to experiment with different lipstick colours is to buy cheap lipliners in different colours and use them all over your lips to see what works for you colour wise. The lipliners can also be used as blush, just apply with your fingertips.
