Basically title.
I’ve read it’s best for the mechanism especially of automatic/self winding watches to hack them if you’re not wearing them (ie pull the crown out so the watch stops)
Is this recommended for quartz/battery/solar watches? Or just automatics since they die out in a day or two of non-wear?
Thanks
I was recently wondering if I could save battery life on my quartz watches by pulling the crowns out when not in use, but I’m too worried about moisture getting in.
Moisture isn’t your biggest issue. Most crowns have caskets that stay located in the crown tube. Only diving watches might have a second which engages when the crown is screwed in. A bigger issue is prolonging battery life artificially and then for the non lithium cells, frying your circuit with an acid leak.
