Basically title.

I’ve read it’s best for the mechanism especially of automatic/self winding watches to hack them if you’re not wearing them (ie pull the crown out so the watch stops)

Is this recommended for quartz/battery/solar watches? Or just automatics since they die out in a day or two of non-wear?

    Pulled out crowns do not let in humidity. The gasket stays seated in the crown tube for even the most basic watches. Divers might have a second that is engaged when the crown is screwed in. But I have no idea where you live that the relative humidity in the air is of great enough concern in the first place. Do you keep your watches in a box of water?
