I daily an Apple Watch but have been increasingly interested in getting a nice dress watch.

My dream watch is the Rolex Datejust with the jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel, but I don’t have 12-14k to cough up for one.

Looking at some of the other brands, even a few grand on a luxury watch is a bit much for me for anything similar (Tudor, seiko, omega etc. I never knew those brands were in the thousands).

I found this Tissot and I think it’s gorgeous, but I don’t know too much about the brand. This watch is the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium Automatic, which runs $825. The Quartz model is half the price, $425, so I’m curious what the major difference is to demand double for the automatic.

Thank you!

The only downside is that when you send your watch in to get serviced, you are likely to just get a new movement than get the one you have serviced. They have cheap’ish movements.

At least that’s the word on the street.
