Hi all
I posted this vintage 18k longines on a facebook group asking how to value it - since the original motion was replaced by a battery motion maybe 20 years ago - and someone said it was just worth scrap. (Only one person replied)
I have a hard time beleiving that - but wanted to check before, well, selling it for scrap.
For once, the information you got on Facebook is actually and reasonably accurate.
Without any original internals, there is zero value for any collector. This is purely just scrap.
Without the original internals, and considering it’s not a watch that’s currently in-style, it’s not worth anything over the bullion value of the materials in the watch.
It’s worth whatever someone will pay for it. There might be a bit of objective melt value in the gold. Beyond that, it depends on the potential buyer, the condition (is it working?), and so on.
