I’m pretty good at makeup overall I would say, I always get compliments, but the one thing I can’t do is strip lashes. I’ve successfully put them on before but it’s a lot of struggle and usually irritates my eyes pretty badly. When I wear makeup I usually do very dark, extremely bold eye looks, and I think lashes would really add to a lot of them if I only had some that worked. Does anyone have any recommendations of brands or tips for putting them on? Or even like gadgets that make it easier? Or glue recommendations

I have the same problem!! I wear makeup everyday and can do liner, brows contour, etc. but I can’t seem to get the hang of strip lashes. Now I buy them and cut them into thirds. This seems to work really well for me. Just make sure to get the pieces as close together as possible and use your tweezers to make sure all 3 pieces mesh with your natural lashes.

Personally, I don’t recommend individual lashes as they take a very long time to put on and they are not nearly as sturdy as a strip lash. (Hard to reuse the individual lashes)

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

I get mine from Walmart lol Kiss So Wispy I think #11. I use the pink duo latex glue since it dries black. I love how they look. I always get compliments on them & everyone always thinks it’s my natural lashes.

Velour just came out with a “glue & go” pen which basically allows you to apply lash glue like eyeliner rather than applying the glue to the lash band and trying to aim.

I definitely understand the eye irritation. Even when I apply lashes perfectly, my eyes do water up a bit after application and then at the end of the day when I’ve had them on for too long.

I find that applying a thin layer of glue rather than a thick layer helps minimize the irritation.

Have you tried cutting your straps into half lashes, or tried out individual lashes? Individual sets take longer overall, but you get the maximum amount of control for your effort.

let the glue get a little tacky before trying to place them! i notice when i let it dry just a bit longer the fumes aren’t as strong and they don’t burn my eyes as much. then i keep my eyes slightly open as i come from above my natural lashes to place them up, but also as close to my lash line as possible. i press down the center of the lash first, then focus on placing the corners down. i use my fingers bc i’ve had a lot of practice but they make tweezers for putting on fake lashes that helped me when i was learning! honestly watching instagram reels of people putting makeup/fake lashes on have been helpful cuz it’s usually up close shots

I was never able to put lashes on myself until I got a set of magnetic lashes. I loooooove them and I’m thrilled I can finally do lashes.

I now use lashify but when I used strip lashes I would always do the glue on my eyelid and then place the lash on once tacky. That’s the only way I was ever able to get them where I wanted them. I have no idea why I just could not get them close enough the normal way. I love Lashify, though. I’ve been using that system for 4 years and love it.

Buy them in bulk and start wearing them every day. You can do anything with practice. There is no secret to it; not really. I bet it takes you less than a month to be able to do it with your eyes closed, so to speak.

The only real tipi I can think of is that people often don’t let the glue dry on the lash long enough before trying to stick it to their eye. You want it to be gooey and not liquid so that it easily sticks but you can still adjust it slightly if you need to. If it’s liquid, it will just fall off when you try to move it. You probably know this.

Kiss lashes have “quarter lashes” you can just put on the middle and ends to make them thicker and longer. They just apply by a mascara type wand or the new ones just press on. Also I love one two cosmetic magnetic accent lash. They are just for the ends and look most natural.

Get lash tweezers and apply a bit of glue to the strip and your lash line. It took me practicing every day to get it down. The tweezers really helped me.

ETA: try whispy or natural styles. I hate lashes with visible bands.
