Help me out guys. I want to purchase a good looking S/G watch. Important for me:
- good typography on the dial
- at least some brand heritage
- automatic
- good quality bracelet
- yellow gold not rose gold
The water resistance on this is a nice bonus but I could easily live with less like 10 ATM.
How do you feel is the look and quality of the bracelet? Is it easy to set the time with those high crown guards? Do you have an alternative suggestion?
Thank you very much ;)
The watch is great, the bracelet is mediocre. It’s sturdy and feels ok, but nothing to write home about. Oris Aquis has a better bracelet, but not if you want the 2-tone look and not at the same price. You can find that specific look on the Oris Diver’s 65. Rado and Mido also have 2 tone watches, but I couldn’t tell you anything about the bracelet quality. The 2tone watches are usually available in shops, so I think you can go to a multi-brand shop and ask for their 2tones in around your price to try on and decide there.
I’m wearing my Diver’s 65 right now, and can confirm, it’s a great watch. Strap monster too, I have half a dozen straps and one ss bracelet that I’m constantly switching between.
OP, if able, try to see this watch in person. It really doesn’t photograph well due to the extremely domed crystal. Its stunning in person!
How is setting the time with those crown guards?
One of the best looking divers I’ve ever seen. But I prefer the one with grey dial and bezel, but that’s a matter of taste.
That’s the exact one I have lmaoooo
Nice how are you liking it?
How is the bracelet and the crown/crown guards?
I don’t like the font they used. Looks like the numbers are squished imo. I also would rather the watch not have a date wheel and have a 3 numeral in its place. Seems weird to me to only have 3 numerals. Some watches pull off the asymmetric look. This isn’t one of them.
I had the black one, 41mm. It was an amazingly versatile watch. Good for work, courtroom, swimming, you name it. Kept great time and had generous power reserve.
It is worthwhile to reserve the bracelet for formal occasions, a nice black rubber strap adds comfort.
Sold it because upgraded to Omega, otherwise I’d still have it.
No Bluesy? :)
This looks good because the two tone black sub looks good.
The watch itself’s basically the best bang for buck you can get at this price. L888’s a superb movement, and I got the Kohei LE version which has a ceramic bezel (making it near scratch proof).
Have been wearing it daily for about 8months and it’s currently about 15 seconds off, with the only scratches on the bracelet itself.
The quality of them in your hand is nowhere close to what you’d expect it to be - I would say “tinny” is the best way to describe them.
One of the most disappointing watches I’ve ever handled.
Gold and steel looks gorgeous especially with rubber strap. Kind od decadent yet classy.
Personally I would much rather get the S/G Spirit Zulu time
The new L3.835.4.32.6 is also amazing
The gold is a scratch magnet even more visible than stainless
Hydroconquest is a solid choice for a watch
I have the exact watch, worn it twice as I have others, I have found it to be a tad too weighty for my tastes, looking to off load it if you are interested and in UK, mine is absolutely as new
If the Tudor Royal had better typography on the dial it would be a no brainer for a two tone.
My god you are absolutely right
And too bad the BB36 in SG is so comically overpriced
If you like smaller watches the Tudor Prince at 34-36mm is at a good price range. Also it’s solid gold in the bracelet, bezel and crown. Instead of wrapped gold you get real 18k throughout for around $2-2,5k.
This is such a great value for money watch. 300m water resistance, runs within COSC standards (+6 seconds per day) without the associated cost of a COSC certified movement, same movement as the 3000 dollar legend diver, amazing design and finishing. I bought mine on the 10th of july and I’ve worn it every day since. The ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal still looks good as new.
I’m sure it’s much higher quality, but the amount of Rolexish elements feels like Invicta here imho
