  • I did swim with a snk809 and did multiple small dives (3-4m) with a digital Casio, both labeled to resist 30m. No issues whatsoever. If the watch is under 5 years of age i think most of us can’t dive to a depth that would damage them.

I know a guy that regularly swims with a Speedmaster (older model), so I think most of us are exaggerating with depth rating. We should just be careful to have the crown screwed / pushed, consider gasket age after 5+ years, and enjoy our watches without fear.

  • Photo yes, too big but that angle always seems to make watches seem bigger. Just look in the mirror with hand in pocket or in front of your chest and see how it looks. If it’s too big, try the solar speedtimers, they’re great and you find them discounted. Thing is you have to be happy, too big or too small, it’s just you that needs to be satisfied. Ppl don’t care.

It’s an automatic so there should not be any need for winding, especially after wearing it. After you wear it for an entire day, you should be able to take it off and it shouldn’t need winding for ~70 hours. Did you by any chance feel anything in the movement while winding, like something breaking? That shouldn’t be the case since the movements have overwind protection, but maybe you were too hard on the crown? I would take it back to the shop, just tell them the power reserve is not holding and see what’s happening.

  • Longines Hydroconquest is a bit above your price but black friday is coming. I recommend the blue one with a rubber strap, and you have 39 and 41mm options. Also, Doxa sub200 is 1k usd and stylish if you go with the black one on bracelet. Another stylish one is the Sinn556, not really a diver but has 200m water resist and good enough lume. Oris has increased their prices but maybe keep an eye out for an aquis as well.

  • Can’t say anything… I bought one almost 7 years ago because i didn’t have money for an skx — it’s still going strong and it’s been through hell and back, from cliff-jumping to diving, working on the house and car… lost my pearl hitting a barrel edge while washing grapes to make wine 😁 It’s an amazing watch, I will keep it forever. There are some cons to consider though: Lume is not better than seiko and the bezel got stuck for me, even though i washed it after going into salt water, and also removed & cleaned underneath the bezel.

  • The watch is great, the bracelet is mediocre. It’s sturdy and feels ok, but nothing to write home about. Oris Aquis has a better bracelet, but not if you want the 2-tone look and not at the same price. You can find that specific look on the Oris Diver’s 65. Rado and Mido also have 2 tone watches, but I couldn’t tell you anything about the bracelet quality. The 2tone watches are usually available in shops, so I think you can go to a multi-brand shop and ask for their 2tones in around your price to try on and decide there.
