In a post from a few days ago, I noticed that someone mentioned that they were afraid to post about their dislike of the Tudor BB58 for fear of downvoting. You know what? The BB is a boring watch that’s not worth the money, and Tudor wouldn’t be half as popular as it is without the connection to Rolex. If Rolexes were as attainable as they were in past years, cut that by a factor of 10. Would you really buy a BB if the reality were that you could just save a little bit more and get a Rolex Submariner? That’s my hot take. What’s yours?

Panerai should be commended for never faltering or compromising on their wild fucking design language.

I’m a fan of the look but not their internals. After seeing how bland the movement looks, I’ve been turned off

Agree and disagree. I think it’s admirable that Panerai has kept to it’s iconic design. But I think they could have done that while releasing additional lines and options.

Keep the original Panerai line as it is as the main line, and release a additional line for GADA sports watch, chronograph, dress watch, and etc. They don’t need to do all of that, but they should at least have more than one look to the brand in general. Right now Panerai is a very stuck one trick pony.(though admittedly it’s a cool trick)

The weird obsession people have with their watches looking too small is cringe. Like Uncle Jack in Always Sunny worrying his hands are too small.

Divers definitely belong on Leather bands. They just look super good that way and other than a swim or shower, no one’s exposing them to water very often.

    Quartz is dope.

I’m just curious as to why people can’t decide for themselves if it’s too small or not.

Like all you need to do is look at your wrist, the lugs and decide…

Modern smart watches are superior to mechanical pieces and should be the standard recommendation for most people to daily.

Quartz watches are worthless trash that have neither the utilitarian benefit of smart watches nor the sentimental value of mechanical watches.

You may say that it’s all about the movement and the history and the harnessing of time itself using only tiny metal cogs, demonstrating the god-like nature of man and so on, but we both know that you just fucking love the shiny on your wrist, you big tart.

-Tissot PRX is disgusting -Seiko and Grand Seiko are all ugly -An entire collection of watches with only black faces is cool -Rolex watches are the most aesthetically pleasing and far too many people just hate them because they’re popular -date windows are beautiful

NATO straps make any watch they’re put on look cheap and also aren’t meant to be used on watches that have spring bars, they put tension on them and make them pop out. So anyone claiming they protect the watch is unaware it’s fixing a problem it’s caused. They were designed for military watches where the case had slits to pass the strap through because it was the cheapest way to do things.

Grand Seiko spring drive watches are too thick compared to other watches, but it rarely gets mentioned given how unique the movement is.

Also, lug to lug measurements are more important than case size measurements for a good fit.

Thank you! I like Grand Seiko, especially their hi beat stuff.

But SD models are comically thick. I hope to live to see the day GS makes a 9mm thick SD with a date. With a DOMED crystal.

I cringe out of my skin whenever someone calls a luxury automatic watch a “tool watch” or balks at a watch because of water resistance or something similar. If you want an actual “took watch” just buy a fucking G Shock. Automatics are, predominately, men’s jewelery these days, and it’s OK to embrace that.

‘Sir, here is your $10,000 Rolex Explorer, it epitomises the tool watch, rugged, ultra cool and ready for anything’…. ‘Oh these white gloves I’m wearing? Yeah I just don’t want to scratch it, it is after all a tool watch’

“Hey guys, I’m looking for a new watch to add to my cOlLecTiOn. I want to spend Max of 2k. It needs to be a true tool watch that can stand up to rough wear and has 300m of water resistance. No quartz, please. What do I do for a living? Oh, I’m a software engineer. No, I don’t go diving, why do you ask?”

    I hate Tudors hour hand.

With that large square block. Just make the hands more luxurious and I would have tons of their watches

I don’t like the oversized watch trend. Even if it doesn’t feel heavy on your wrist, I don’t think it looks good at all.

When people try to explain various ways they use the diving bezel for everyday uses such as cooking timers, timing a trip etc. pure cringe.

Esthetically, Seiko is the Cole Haan shoes of watches. If you try to be everything, you have no identity or your own.
