  • Any particular styles or designs that you like? Do you like quartz (battery operated) or mechanical? (Spring and gears that can last for decades but less accurate and expensive to service.

I was going to suggest the Mercie field watches and Le Grandpa, Bulova Aerojet, and a Seiko SUR309 for quartz. The Citizen eco drives also have a wide assortment of styles!

For mechanical, same thing with Mercie field watches, most of Seagulls’s dress variety, Seiko Cocktail, Orient Bambinos, and Tissot LeLocle.

  • A lot of brands have that issue with people, sadly.

Aside from little to no marketing, what else do they have outside of the Chronomaster? Shoot, even watch enthusiasts sort of glaze over everything they have. The Elite? Boring (I love em tho!) Defy? 70s recycled design.

Second, their designs probably dont captivate people. This is a guess and my bias showing because I only really like 5 models in total.

Last, when it comes to Luxury, people like brand recognition! Some of their models compete with Rolex and Omega at MSRP. You can hype with a Cartier or even Brietling as well, which also are recognizable in a way.

  • Nowadays? About $500 including tax and shipping. Max limit is $1000 unless it’s a really cool watch with a nice design, history, or artistic merit.

Anything past 1000, even in today’s market, has noticeable diminishing returns. But that’s just my experience though! Some of the Oris Arterlier and Nomos watches didn’t look that much better than my Stowas or Mido for double or triple the cost. Even some of the finishing on Longines was a bit disappointing in the end.
