I have recently started using retinol and vitamin C serum products and both of them require you to wear sunscreen daily. At first I tried neutrogina face sunscreen, and I unfortunately broke out after using it. I then purchased the Clinique city block sunscreen. I don’t break out from it which is great, but none of my other products seem to be compatible - primer, foundation, concealer, colour corrector, blush. I try to have it dry for 10 minutes before applying any primer or other products. I even with setting everything at the end I end up with a ton of creasing. My products also slide everywhere! I have oily skin. Maybe I need a sunscreen for oily skin? Advice and recommendations welcome !

I have very reactive skin and eyes to spf, and Korean sunscreen was a game changer for me. IHerb.com or YesStyle.com are good legitimate spots to buy it. I like the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, but if your skin is dry from the retinol, I hear good things about Etude House.

Thank you, I’ve heard of Korean sunscreens being great but I was unsure where to purchase them . I will take a look at those

I used to not wear sunscreen because I have oily/combo skin and it only seemed to make it worse. I’m not too sure what exactly to recommend because I don’t use retinol or vitamin C, but honestly what helped was using a niacinamide serum to help oil control. It’s worked wonders and I can’t afford it all the time, but I definitely notice that when I stop using it my skin gets oilier. If you’re interested, I’d recommend the Inkey List niacinamide serum. I learned that brands like The Ordinary will switch up their recipes depending on the price of ingredients, but Inkey List does not. It’s a bit more expensive (google says $10 but ~$10-$17) but so worth it.

I use the Vanicream cleanser, Inkey List niacinamide, CeraVe moisturizer, and I’ve been using the Innisfree sunscreen for years and never abandoned it — I absolutely love it. It doesn’t have any piling like I noticed the other sun screens do and it’s hydrating without making me too oily (but again the serum is really crucial)

Also I’d recommend an oil-control powder at the end of your makeup routine. I use the Elf Ultra HD powder and it’s probably my favorite makeup product in the world, it works so well

Interesting regarding the niacinamide. I have never tried that before. I am pretty new to serums, but open to trying more/others. I will take a look at trying that one. I will also check out that sunscreen recommendation. I currently use a Clinique setting powder

The LaRoche Posay anthelios is my go to when I’m not using a primer that contains sunscreen. I use the Cover Girl Simply Ageless and it keeps my skin softer and more hydrated but also keeps me from burning (thanks medications that make me super sun sensitive).

Ah thank you. Yes the two serums I use are LaRoche Posay. They have many types of sunscreen so I’m still searching for the right one. I’ll have a look at that one. Have you tried their tinted sunscreen?

I wait 10-15 minutes after sunscreen to apply makeup. My favorites under makeup are the SPF BFF primer from Milani, the haruharu wonder airy SPF and the Trader Joe’s Supergoop dupe.

I have combination skin but my skin isn’t sensitive or super acne prone.
