  • L’Oreal True Match nude serum. You can wear it very sheer or build to heavy medium coverage. Makes my skin look stunning. A good burgundy or brown (not black, really brown) mascara. Gives you extra definition but not LASHES iykwim. A red blush. I swear I’m not crazy, but a red blush looks like you’re flushed instead of ‘wearing blush’…even with the rosacea. A green color correcting base, I like the Hero one. A little goes a long way but really tones down my red cheeks.

  • I’m 47…

I use a lotion-y primer…Cover Girl Simply Ageless (there is a good bit of sunscreen in it) and mix it with my color corrector.

I use either L’Oréal Age Perfect serum foundation or their True Match Nude serum…just a few drops, not much at all. I stan the Age Perfect concealer (tiny bit under eyes and corners of nose) precisely because it is NOT full coverage, it’s definitely on the light side of medium. I’ve learned over the years that full coverage just looks weird on me, the texture is never quite right, then when it creases…😬because let’s face it, our under eyes are not smooth. Tiny tiny bit of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush flawless finish setting powder pressed in with a puff anywhere I used concealer.

Liquid and cream blushes (gen see or Rare Beauty) in a bronzed brown or neutral light pink are absolute must haves for me. I do use powder products but they’re always relatively sheer (but pigmented) formulas with a tiny amount of sheen. They seem to blend and buff into my skin the best.

Bronzers are tough for me, I don’t want them too red based or orange (I’ve got fair/light skin so it’s really easy for bronzers to go weird). There’s the Revolution cream bronzer and the L’Oreal True Match Lumi that both work well because their color and texture are right. L’Oréal one is a powder with a teeny bit of sheen. Blends beautifully with a fluffy brush.

Eyes I don’t do a lot. Typically just sweep my bronzer in the crease and that’s it for shadow. If I’m feeling saucy I’ll put eyeliner in my waterline. I am, however, a sucker for a good mascara. Brows I just fill and let me tell you, it’s been hard finding a gray brow product.

Lips are almost always a gloss stick or lip oil in something sheer and brown/ mauvey neutral.

TLDR: moisturize moisturize moisturize. Matte and full coverage can work but in general sheerer formulas with a touch of sheen are gonna be your best friends.

  • Make sure your skin is super well hydrated.

I use Hero rescue balm and red correct and mix with my primer that contains sunscreen. A little goes a LONG way. A couple of drops of the L’Oréal true match nude serum foundation.

I have the Gen See all over lip/cheek/eye color in Coconut…bronzed brown. I bought it for a ‘latte makeup’ effect but I love it for almost everything, use almost like a bronzer and a bit on my lips. Tiny bit goes a looooong way. L’Oreal age perfect concealer, very hydrating and light/med coverage, a couple of dots under my eyes and corners of my nose, dot on my chin and tiny bit along my nose. Charlotte Tilbury airbrush flawless finish under eyes and other concealer areas, small amount pressed in with a puff.

Finish off with brows Nyx thick it stick it in cool ash blonde and the lift and snatch (adding random hairs to bald spots) in taupe. Lashes are Milani Highly Rated tubing mascara (the turquoise tube only comes in black) or L’Oréal telescopic in brown (depending on how much I want my lashes to stand out).

Biggest thing is making sure your products really sink into the skin and are a natural texture. I’ve found powder products work fine but they need to have the tiniest bit of sheen (not glitter) and really gently buff them into the skin.

  • I cannot do lashes. I tried repeatedly and they just made me so uncomfortable, couldn’t stand the feeling. Fortunately I found a good source for latisse and my natural lashes are the bomb now.

Have you tried the gloss balms by tarte, hard candy, or wet n wild (I think MAC has one as well)? You roll up just a tiny bit and they feel like a lip balm (you cant retract them so one or two clicks is all you need), maybe a little bit slippy-er. No stickiness at all. I’ve got clear, pinkish, mauve, and nude colors. They’re all SUPER sheer, as in sheer enough you can apply them without a mirror and not look weird.
