Winged liner has been a staple for me since 12 years old, I’m 25 now and feel it just doesn’t look good anymore…

What’s something you outgrew that you miss?

I used to think I was so pretty using winged liner, because I could get a perfectly tapered curve and everything. Turns out it has always looked bad on me, and I was in denial 😭

I stopped wearing eyeliner when I was 26. Without a wing. I tried this year again. I’m 33. I still don’t like it anymore.

Foundation. I realized it makes my skin look worse. I stick to concealer just in spots I need it and tinted moisturizer or BB cream if I want to look a bit more polished. The only time I use actual foundation is if I know I will be photographed or on a video shoot.

Also, setting powder. It makes my dry skin look so bad.

I get what you mean. I am older than you and still do winged liner on occasion, but it also used to be a staple for me and now it’s a rarity. Not makeup related but I remember years ago my much older sister took me to Urban Outfitters, looked around and said “I think I’ve outgrown this place”. It GUTTED me at the time. And now I look around and think the same thing.

I personally have not grown out of winged eyeliner but I feel like the rest of society has and I feel so outdated when I wear it now. But I still love it.

Something I have outgrown is highlight. Sometimes I still put a little on the tip of my nose but very rarely.

Foundation of any kind, skin isn’t tolerating it. Black eyeliner brown is less harsh

I used to wear only highlighter in the tops of my cheeks and on the bridge of my nose without contour, bronzer,or blush and I can’t do that anymore 😅 it just doesn’t look…right. Idk maybe it’s because the way I wear my eye makeup now is different

Bronzer…used to buy multiples because I used it so much. Looking back on old pics, looks like I rubbed my cheeks in dirt lol

I’ve been winging eyeliner since 1995! It works for me. However, I wear simpler eyeshadow and a dewier sheer serum foundation vs full coverage.

I outgrew makeup and I am glad I did. i am sure it may come back later in life when I actually need it, but clogging up my pores so young really was a tragedy. so many photos I look so much older and not in a good way and my natural youth was being covered up.

I used to put things like gems and stickers on my face for clubbing etc but I don’t really do that anymore.

I’ve had to change how I apply my winged liner to make it work for my aging eyes (wow, cringing at this sentence at 35…). Basically I have to go wayyyy softer to make it look good, use a black or brown eyeshadow instead of eyeliner and apply with an eyeliner brush, and I cannot line my lid and make it look good. I do a tiny wing on only the outer corner of my eye and apply it looking head-on with a neutral expression. It does still lift my eye even with uneven hooded eyes.
