i’ve started wearing a bit more makeup recently, but i today i noticed that it gets ruined pretty quickly to an unbelievable extent.

today i put on some heavy eye makeup & a very light base (but including primer and powder) at around 6 am. Keep in mind that i’m at school all day doing basically nothing (except a 30 minute walk during lunch break). At around 2:30 I look in a mirror and turns out i look as if i’d been mauled by a bunch of animals and somehow brought back to life… Like, no matter what you’re picturing, it probably looked even worse. Like, i don’t mean to make myself sound like some sort of crybaby, but i was genuinely on the brink of tears after seeing myself like that from the sheer embarrassment. I literally felt like I was going to throw up - it was that bad…

Anyway, I guess I just don’t understand how it’s possible for my makeup to get that obliterated in a matter of a few hours while doing nothing? It’s not like i was working out or anything and i’m not a naturally sweaty person… Plus I tend to buy makeup others recommend.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be the issue? :(

Did you put on sunscreen before makeup? Some sunscreens, and some oilier moisturizers, and make makeup “break” and look gross.

Do you have oily skin? Maybe you’re using a “glowy” product when you should be using a matte one (or the opposite for dry skin).

Is it possible that your skin reacted to something in the makeup? I’ve heard about people having horrible reactions, from black, swollen eyes to hives to full-on welts, from allergies to certain ingredients in some products.

Is it possible that you went in too heavy and the makeup just… melted? Migrated? Faded off?

What lighting did you use to apply? My bathroom lighting runs very yellow so I have to check in natural light before leaving the house to make sure I don’t look orange, and even then sometimes I look fine in natural light and like re-warmed death under office/mall bathroom lighting.

Did your makeup oxidize through the day? I found a shade that I loved in one foundation, only to realize that after an hour of wear it turned ashy and pilled.

Could be so many things… hard to tell without more info.
