I went through almost 3 years of not wearing makeup. Now that I’m back into it, I’m wondering what I can do to speed up my routine and to learn about new products or anything I might have missed out on. Currently it takes me about 30 mins to complete a look. Thank you for any of your suggestions.

A few dots of concealer at the inner eye corners and sides of nose, smudged lip liner, pinch of gloss and done!

Honestly it’s prettier to be relaxed and confident.

Your look is the most minimalist approach on this post. Do you ever feel like you need more makeup as you go throughout your day ?

Honestly, that’s a wise perspective. Thank you.

    Here’s what I do:

    1. Eyeshadow primer on lids
    2. Eye makeup (bold highlighter on the lids and inner eye corner, volumizing mascara, maybe winged eyeliner)
    3. Clean up fallout then put on moisturizer
    4. SPF 50 sunscreen after moisturizer has absorbed
    5. Put on a more subtle highlighter (on my cheekbones and nose)
    6. Finish off with loose powder and setting spray

Quick and easy, had to do this after my skin went awry from my skincare routine and I could no longer wear foundation. If needed, you can use a concealer to cover up any blemishes before putting on the loose powder

    Tinted sunscreen

    High coverage concealer

    Setting powder

Highlight/blush/bronzer compact if you want to bring color.

Mascera and a brown or black pencil to smoke out.

Tinted sunscreen creates a base on the skin and moisturizers. High coverage concealer to spot conceal will give the coverage in areas needed. Setting powder to mattify and set the face for lasting hold.

I’m just going over what you said earlier about highlight/blush/bronzer compact. I am missing products like this. Could you please recommend one that you like ? Thanks

Dior face glow compact (I reach for this the most, its all very shimmery finishes and kinda all blends together- its like instant face glam on the go)

Hourglass Ambient lighting Pallete Diffused edit (great for every day, when you want a glow from within and it’s very forgiving if you have a heavy hand, sculpts the face)

There seem to be more and more multi products coming out. I know there is a pen style one that has eyeliner, eyebrow liner (basically the same lol) and mascara I think. I would imagine that and some cream products for eyes, lips, and cheeks would make things super easy!

    My quick everyday makeup:

    • Concealer or CC cream, pat out lightly with a beauty blender wherever I need some evening out

    • Lipstick to do a blotted out lip with my fingers, and using whatever’s left on my fingers as blush

    • Brow gel

    • Mascara

    • Setting spray or powder

    • retinol eye cream (I’m using Olay right now)
    • Neutrogena primer
    • IT cosmetics Bye Bye Full Coverage Moisturizer or CC+ (A little goes a very long way) and both are SPF 50.
    • Tarte Maneater Mascara
    • Dior On Stage Liquid Eyeliner
    • Tarte Lip Crème, Clinique Almost Lipstick or Vaseline Lip Therapy

Do you think that a primer is necessary for under makeup ? I feel like I’m missing out because I never use a primer but wanted to know the benefits.

And how do you make liquid eyeliner look good ? Especially when you are running late ?

I’ve used Lancôme La base primer and I honestly think it can be used in lieu of moisturizer. I think when they invented primer it was intended as a better gel moisturizer but they don’t want to tell us we don’t need both.

Oh true ! When I started wearing makeup as a teenager, primers weren’t really a big thing. I didn’t hear of it until much later in my 20s. I guess I didn’t know it’s benefits and I just got the idea that it’s not necessary. I don’t see a lot of gel moisturizers on its own but now I know I can multi task with it if I want to.

I’m down to 3-4 products and 10 minutes if I don’t switch my look:

    1. Futurist foundation - after months of searching for a match, this one replaces concealer, moisturizer and baking. It’s matte, but not as matte as KVD or UD long wearing - and it feels nicer on the skin.

    2. Pat McGrath Labs lipstick - I have a few bullet lipsticks that I like for their longevity, but this (Matte Trance) is the one that I think is most pigmented and has a color I am obsessed with because it looks good with everything. Close runner ups for variety and if I have a minute for the lip color to stain include GXVE and Pixi liquid lips.

    3. A good black eyeliner - I have a few favorites ranging from Sephora to Mac - and the ones I tend to like best are Kohl (sometimes I do a liquid but it takes more time because I have to be careful to be precise).

Beyond that, sometimes I swipe highlighter or a cheek balm over top, if I don’t do a blush.

Mascara doesn’t take long, either - my go to is MAC; pretty much any style, but I like High Impact by Clinique.

I use eye primer or concealer on lids, dark brown kohl eyeliner on my upper lash line and smudged in outer 1/3 lower lash line. Under eye concealer, pencil in brows (Nyx micro pencil or snatched pen and brow gel) Mascara

Does anyone here use DRMTLGY tinted SPF? I moisturizer as their SPF?

I have my full face routine, and my rushed one. The rushed one is more minimal, and I get more compliments when wearing it than I do the full face. I start with brows, then a lid primer, and a dusting of light shadow to even out the skintone. Eyeliner, mascara, then undereye concealer. If my cheeks are particularly red, I dot foundation and apply sparingly. I like a bold, lined lip with this look. Then I floof my hair and go! It’s a fun look, and easy to do if I oversleep, or just fart around in the mornings and lose track of time.

That’s actually close to what I like to wear except for the bold lips but I can add that whenever I want ! Can I ask what colours that you go for usually ? What’s the best everyday bold lip colour do you think ? Thanks

      Lol@fart around.

I do a red, burgundy, or deep berry. Currently rotating YSL 1966, 204 & 55, Loreal 892, Estee Lauder. 442 Diabolique, MAC Fresh Morrocan & Maison Rouge, and Wet n Wild Mochalicious (matte. The rest are creamy) with a Milani no. 13 Bordeaux liner.
