I ordered the GMK Bordeaux group buy cable from RnCables.com in July 2022, with an expected ship date of Q1 2023. In early March, they posted an update in their discord announcements channel that the Bordeaux and Indigo cables were “wrapping up production” and they were aiming “to send them out around mid-April.”

By mid-May, we hadn’t heard any more updates, so I messaged the owner directly. Three days later, he responded, saying that the cables were almost ready, the cables were coiled, USB connectors were soldered, and they were just waiting on the aviators to be painted.

That was the last time I ever received a response. RnCables is online on discord nearly every day, but refuses to acknowledge messages and tags sent by anyone. His moderators are all set to do-not-disturb, and haven’t chimed in at all. One of his affiliates attempted to reach out, but did not get a response. I replied to my order confirmation email (sent from info@rncables.com) in September and October of this year. The October reply bounced as undeliverable.

All the while, on Reddit, RnCables (u/raykcy) was showing off his new PC with an RTX 4090.

In the past month or so, a couple people in the discord did report that non-group-buy cables they had ordered in August finally shipped. So it appears that something is happening behind the scenes, but all of the paying customers are left totally in the dark. I don’t care if there are delays with fulfilling a custom product, but I expect periodic status updates, especially once it is months past the expected fulfillment window. Otherwise, it just feels like a scam.

At this point I have zero confidence that I will receive what I ordered, nor a refund. Unfortunately, the purchase occurred too long ago for my credit card to allow a dispute. I just want to make the community aware, that if you were considering ordering from RnCables, don’t.

I’ve been burned on more buys than I have received.

To be fair though I hadn’t just happened with cables. Key caps, flashlights, knives… Too many incompetent or dishonest group buy coordinators.
