Being into this hobby for a while, the thought of typing on an office membrane keyboard while at work for most of the day was a downgrade to what I enjoyed at home. So, in this case, I decided to take one of my GMK67 boards and use some stealthy keycaps to not bring much attention to it at work. I think I may replace the switches because the current ones that I am using are a bit clacky, and although I very much enjoy the sound of them, they may be a bit loud in a quiet office environment.

    Specs:

    Board - GMK67

Switches - Gateron Pro Yellow 3.0 stock

Keycaps - Black minimalistic PBT with Hiragana Sub legends

    Mods:

    • Tape mod 3 layers
    • PE foam 3mm thick
    • Polyfill
    • Lubed stabs

Removing the tape and PE would probably lower the volume almost as much as going to quieter switches. YMMV though.

Would recommend you to try the gateron oil kings! As of now they are my favorite liner switches and they come pretty smooth from the factory

Aaaahhh, I have a GMK67 with U4s which is acceptable at work (noise-wise), and I have a batch of Oil Kings incoming… do you think my coworkers will be annoyed? Hahah

I don’t think they are really loud, right now I’m running them in a ortho60 v2. So it’s as pingy as it gets in my opinion (fully open, pcb and fr4 plate that connects with standoffs to the lower plate) and still they don’t sound horrible and even quieter than some membrane keyboards, in a regular board of course they will be more quite, imo you’re in for a treat! They made me ditch my love for tactile switches before them I used the boba u4t which at the time felt amazing for the price
