When you get a new pallet or single how many times do you give a shade a try before you feel like you know you like it or that you probably won’t use it again? I was kinda curious how many chances people usually give a shade.

Depends on what the issue is. If it just doesn’t suit me, then I’ll just keep using it with other colours over time to try and find it’s purpose in my collection - I obviously liked the colour but it must be either a lid shade, outer corner shade, inner corner shade or a transition shade - really I just need to figure out what it’s best purpose is if its not fitting very well with the first job I assigned it. If it comes out as a colour I wasn’t expecting (as an example I had a yellow eyeshadow turn orange after I applied it the other day), then even though I’ll be slightly annoyed that it catfished me, I’ll try to figure out a better way to use it with different colors than what I’d originally envisioned. If the shadow performs badly, as in seems patchy, then I’ll try it with an alternative primer and without a primer and just try to determine if it is truly bad or something I can work with in another way. If it’s dusty and with little pigment then it gets one shot and I’m done. It’s rare the last one happens to me now though because if I get a dusty palette I’ll never buy from the brand again, let alone use the eyeshadow again.
