I’m referring to the MTG and MRG models. I’ve never held one before so I can’t make a judgement. There are a few that caught my eye as I was browsing through the web, but I’m struggling to convince myself to buy an MTG instead of, say, a Christopher Ward, or get an MRG instead of a Tudor.

In fact, while it being way more expensive, I can sort of see the value proposition of an MRG. It has the iconic G Shock digital aesthetic, but housed in a top tier case.

But the MTG, it feels like it’s trying look like an analogue watch, but for the price point, is it justifiable to pick that over a proper mechanical Hamilton, Christopher Ward, or even heck, a PRX?

Is there something I’m missing in these watches? Because they’re clearly really popular and I really love the look on some of them, but it feels insane to be paying those prices for a G Shock, when their base models actually do the same anyway. Cheers.

It’s better at being a watch then a “proper mechanical”, but then so is a much cheaper g shock or an F-91w for that matter. It’s all just jewelry at that point, the value is in what is aesthetically pleasing to you or whatever image you are trying to project.
