I’m not a fan of the super over the top ones, but I like the more natural ones with some looks.
I think when people are complaining about it they are often referring to the really over the top ones, especially when they’re out of place with the rest of someone’s look. A pale blonde with intensely black, thick, mile long lashes dressed to go out for a casual lunch just looks kind of odd, the same way as really over the top glittery shadow or clothes that would fit in better at a club would in that context. I think the heavier ones sometimes look good on people who look like they’d potentially have thick, dark, long lashes anyways, but they look disconcerting to me on someone who clearly wouldn’t. When they’re not to my taste it’s a combo of them not suiting the person, and them being too much for the rest of their current look. Over the top lashes might work with equally elaborate makeup and a flashy outfit, not so much with jeans and a hoodie.
That said, if you love the over the top ones wear them! Some people do love them, and someone else who likes that aesthetic will appreciate the look. Nobody is going to like every look, and that’s ok, if you love the look then rock it.
I’d steer clear of lash tinting, it really, really can’t get in your eyes during the process. Brow tinting should be just fine though, I do mine at home and it takes me maybe 5 minutes. If I’m not waxing them after to clean up any extra I use Vaseline painted on around where I don’t want the tint to go (my application skills suck). Just be aware that brow tint tends to look quite dark, like way darker than you’d expect, the first few days, but it will lighten after a few days. Just do a patch test first since skin can get more sensitive with age.
She might really like the process of doing her makeup though, so I’d try to find some she can safely use that isn’t irritating her eyes, even if she isn’t doing the greatest job with it.
