This is me. I’d probably just end up with a dozen blue dial chronographs. Of the 9 watches I own, 4 are circulated regularly, 3 are almost purely sentimental and only get worn occasionally - 1 needs a service and 1 I shouldn’t have bought.

There are definitely a couple more that I want, but they’re not super pricey so I’ll just wait and get them when there’s a reason to celebrate.

As it is, I have a blue dial dress watch, blue dial chronograph, and a blue dial sports beater so I don’t really need anything else.

Tissot Le Locle Powermatic 80. Or any Hamilton with an H10 movement. Should be able to find either for around 500 USD.

Swap the Top Time for a Navitimer and the Monaco for a Glassbox or 42mm Carrera and play again.

Dan Henry uses a Seiko VK meca-quartz right? Seems like it should be just fine.

Citizen has plenty of Eco-Drive chronos at that price range too.

I think we’re misunderstanding you. You’re not asking if we follow fashion “rules” or conventions, but rather if we, like you, have weird quirks regarding how we wear watches, right?

I have a strap buying problem. I buy a handful of straps for every watch, but after wearing them a few times, I get tired of changing them out or matching my shoes for work, etc, and end up just putting the bracelet on and leaving it on. The watches that only have straps only come out of the box when they fit the rest of the outfit.

Isn’t this one of those “hybrid” auto/quartz models? Small seconds driven by the automatic, minutes and hours are driven by an independent quartz movement. All you should need is a new battery. Just take it to any watch/jewelry shop, good as new.

Citizen E820 movements do this… kind of. In timekeeping mode, the chronograph is disabled and the sweeping seconds stays running like a 3 hander. In chrono mode, the sweeping seconds flips up to 12 and turns with the chronograph.

To each his own, of course. My attire is business casual and casual/suburban dad so a heavy mesh works for most occasions. That being said, I think I wear bracelets, mesh, and leather at 20/40/40% respectively.

Seiko SSB425P1 - it’s a tricompax, but the 6 o’clock subdial matches the dial, so it’s subtle. Found one for $140. Might be enough to scratch the itch without breaking the bank while you save for the Hammy.

Yep. You nailed it. It’s amazingly light despite its size and I dig the titanium color and texture. My only quartz is a bulky chronograph, so I want another grab-and-go solar, I just don’t know if I have a place in my rotation for a bulky 3-hander is all.

Maybe I just need to offload one of my less worn autos to make room.

Love that Citizen. It’s on my list, but I’m just not sure I want a diver.
