This might sound crazy, but have you ever looked into drag makeup tutorials?

Although I’m guessing that full-blown drag makeup is a lot more intense than what you’re looking for, drag techniques can totally be toned down and adapted for low-key everyday wear. There are some fantastic techniques, and it’s all about emphasizing femininity!

    • Do you rub your eyes during the day?
    • Do you have glasses that press up against your lashes?
    • Do you live in an especially humid area?
    • Do you live in an especially arid area?
    • Are you using a ton of glitter? Some glitter eyeshadows can have pretty bad fallout. Non-glittery ones can have the same issue of course, but it seems like glitters are especially likely to wind up on every part of your face.
    • Are you applying too much all at once? That can also cause fallout. Nothing wrong with going bold, but a thin layer may last longer than a thick layer if your eyeshadow is prone to fallout (or if it’s just not very buildable)

Lid primer and/or setting spray could potentially help! But if adding a primer and updating your technique don’t work, it could be that your products just aren’t great OR that they just don’t agree with you - everyone’s skin is different.

If you don’t want it to be too obvious you’re wearing makeup, maybe try using a tinted moisturizer instead?

The slight color should subtly cover the dark circles without being too obvious, and if you pick one that contains hyaluronic acid, that may also help reduce darkness.

For skincare, vitamin C serums and/or caffeine serums can both help improve the look of dark circles (though vitamin C may be irritating if you have sensitive skin or if you have a hard time keeping products from getting in your eyes). You may not see immediate results, but if you use those types of skincare ingredients regularly you should start to see improvement over the course of weeks

  • I don’t see much of a reason to push yourself to do makeup every day if you don’t want to. Skipping it saves time and money!

Maybe just save fun makeup looks for days you plan on going out?

Alternatively, if makeup is something you normally enjoy, and you feel like you’re withdrawing from it due to depression or some other mental health reason, I’d recommend setting aside just a couple days each week as your “makeup days” so you can keep doing it without feeling like it’s too much to handle (and of course talk to a mental health professional).

I can’t tell you what’ll work best for you, but whatever makes you happy is the answer!
