really good reply, the bit about materials and QC is the main reason i don’t buy off aliexpress anymore. after buying even halfway decent kits you really come to realize the difference in quality. ofc a lot of this hobby is personal preference and some people prioritize budget over anything else. but this logic could easily extend to “why not just buy a cheap $15 membrane keyboard”. acting like there’s no middle ground between $50 and 2k keyboards is kind of insane.

it’s like asking why people bother to shop at nicer clothing shops instead of just buying from shein, or why people don’t just shop at wish or temu for stuff.
