I’m a dedicated tinted lip balm wearer and I’m foraying into the big scary pigmented world of lipstick and I just don’t understand it…How do you eat or drink without getting it everywhere? It’s all over my cups, my teeth, just a mess. I apply and do the blotting where you press your lips on a tissue until it doesn’t leave any more marks. Please give me your advice lipstick masters.

Lady Gaga (Haus Labs) just made the atomic shake lip lacquer - purchasers have made videos where it lasts for 20+ hours without reapplying.

I just deal with it. If I’m going to eat something messy I either just don’t do lipstick or wipe it off with baby wipes I keep in my bag. I ate a meatball sub yesterday and although it’s a challenge I made it work and just reapplied after.

I drink and eat and except my lipstick to rub off a little on my glass, but it usually only leaves a small mark or stain. That’s why I’ll touch up my lipstick a few times a day (when needed).

I don’t really mind leaving lipstick marking on straws/cups, etc. I prefer these lipsticks over transfer-free stains because the stains have a tendency to irritate my lips and honestly I’m kinda scared what substances are in there to make it last so long.

To me at least, I don’t think it’s a big deal to leave behind lipstick stains on my own items?

As for the teeth marks, I don’t have this problem. I suggest avoiding the inner part of your mouth when applying lipstick (e.g. use the finger method) to minimise lipstick transfer to teeth.

I’m no master but I’ve never really had an issue with transferring bc I like using watery lip tints instead of lipsticks. They’re completely transfer proof for me once they dry down so I don’t worry about leaving a mark anywhere and still have color to my lips. The only issue with this is that your lips shouldn’t be dry as the color settles in your wrinkles and just looks unflattering. Other times I use a certain liquid lipstick. It’s branded as a “lip cream” and it’s by Flower Knows from their strawberry rococo series. It’s coverage/pigment is enough to hide the wrinkles when I get dry lips but the formulas also thin enough to transfer minimally. One other lip product I use is the Clarins lip oil. I find that after a few seconds, it dries down enough to transfer minimally as well.

Maybeline matte. Zero transfer unless you eat something oily. Cannot feel it on the lips either.

The lipstick marks have a certain sexy appeal. I apply lipstick after every cigarette, and after every coffee. Kind of infatuated with it! Revlon is my favourite!

I never really have that problem anymore. Though It used to be a huge issue, then I tried lip stains. I started using the Fenty beauty lip stain and never went back since. It’s very hydrating and I’ve never left any lip marks.

They all eventually leave, the only ones that stay hard and stay more are the kiko double unlimited touch and the nyx shine loud. Those stick so hard and are very hard to get off with food. But they are still affected.

I mostly wear matte lipsticks that are transfer proof or sheer/natural formulas that don’t leave much mess and for the lipsticks that aren’t transferproof/have a heavy pigment then I wear a top coat called lipcoat

I personally do lipliner, powder, liquid lipstick, blot. But you can just do lipstick then a very fine layer of very finely milled powder over the top.

The powder trick is great - I do it with a tissue tho - Split a 2 ply tissue into one, place over the lips, and then apply a very fine layer of powder.

I just eat or drink and reapply it if I need to. I don’t care if it gets on cups and I never get it on my teeth.

Before you eat, if you’re using a creamy lip, take a tissue and bolt by pressing your lips to it until there’s no more transfer, then reapply afterwards. For drinks, use a straw or simply accept your fate.

I like a liquid matte formulas, so there’s almost no transfer, but that’s personal taste whether you wanna have to remove your makeup with a clown face of oil.
